More about this plant:
Indoors, make sure it receives as much light as possible; while outdoors, it prefers shaded areas. Water moderately, avoiding the substrate from drying out completely before the next watering. In the summer, a fertiliser can stimulate leaf growth. After two or three years, transplant to a larger pot or prune the roots if you wish to keep it in the same container.
Care and recommendations:
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Diameter: 12 cm
- Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity.
- Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist at all times but avoid waterlogging. Water it when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch.
- Soil: Use well-draining soil rich in organic matter, such as a mix of potting soil and perlite.
- Pruning: Trim dead or damaged branches to promote healthy growth and maintain an aesthetic appearance.
- Propagation: It can be propagated by seeds or divisions of the parent plant. Divisions are done during the spring.
- Toxicity: Non-toxic to animals.
Despite being a popular ornamental plant, it also has a history in traditional Chinese medicine, where it is believed to have medicinal properties for treating conditions like cough and lung congestion.
